FAQs

Q. Do I need to purchase any special software to have an intelligent network?

An intelligent network is just about business information organization and there is nothing to stop you doing that with the software you are using in your business now.

Q. Do I need to make any changes to the document management system I am using now?

Presuming that you are using a standard document management system now, you will be able to keep using it as it is. Business information organization is about where you physically put the files and if you think about it, a system that creates links to the files like a DMS can do that regardless of where they are held. But it is important to remember that an intelligent network is not trying to do what you DMS is doing but it is about creating a physical context for your information that creates a picture of what your business and what it does that is real and not virtual.
Smaller businesses that don't have a DMS may decide that they won't need one because on the intelligent network, the place becomes the context.

Q. Will I need any special software to use the downloads and ebooks?

If you are downloading a PDF you will need to have a PDF reader. A link is provided. Some of our free eBooks need to use Internet Explorer. If the ebook does not find Internet Explorer on your computer it will not open properly. While you may be asked to obtain a copy of the DNL reader for the published eBooks the majority of our downloads or ebooks will not install anything to your computer. They will not contain viruses but it is wise to check anything with your own virus checker anyway.

Q. How do I unzip any .zip files I download?

Most computers now come with WinZip or a comparable program.

Q. How do I get Adobe reader?

Adobe readers are available on the Adobe.com website.

Q. As a business management or management consultant or as the representative of a company working in the field am I allowed to promote this strategy to my clients and use the materials supplied?

In the book, Business information organization: 21st century best practice, a section for consultants is included and that contains information about how to use the strategy. There are no royalties for using our strategies and techniques and we ask only that you respect our copyright on our materials and acknowledge the source. If your business needs more information, please contact us on the email address above. Where practical we can consult directly to fast-track your ventures into this area of training.

Q. What software do you use for your published eBooks?

All three eBooks are supplied to be used with a reader. The ebooks are supplied with Digital Rights Management and can only be used with the reader supplied by Australian company DNAML.

Ten Steps Business Publications, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

After a long career working in information management and particularly with business information and working with businesses as Renovate a Business, taking the next step had to be sharing observations and strategies.
But when you become aware of what business is losing every single minute that chaos continues unnoticed, all you can think about is getting the word out there so that things can change. It is a passion to change the way that business works that has created the connection between the consultant, the publisher and the book.
The consultant became the author of Sleepers: the world's best-kept business secret published in Melboune, Australia in 2007.
Bev Kirby White is a former national president of the Australian Library and Information Association, the professional and peake body for librarians and information personnel in Australia. Working as a library manager in post-secondary education and lecturing in library science at MCAE (University of Melbourne) opened up an interest in information management and information technology and concerns that those who know how to manage information were being left out of the design of new systems and processes. From 1989, Bev has had a new career in business information management and as a consultant to government, business, industry and public and private sector organizations.
Being passionate about getting rid of chaos is hard task master and the book was written to inspire others to look closely at what is really happening and what it costs every business. The message in the book is that the worst aspect of this high tech world is that someone threw the baby out with the bath water. Everyone forgot about policy and control. Everyone ignored the fact that if you can't see it you can't manage it. Every business owner and manager who have taken their hands off the wheel have been hoodwinked into thinking that it is all being handled and 99.999% of the time it isn't".
Working with CCGIT, a Melbourne IT and Telecommunications Engineering Company, Bev has now been able to realise a dream of having the software to deliver a BIO information management environment in every business, every organisation and every government agency in the world.

This is the start of something very big.
